Radcliffe Engaged Couple of the Month: Lauren & Garret

Read about this couple and their well-traveled love story.
By

These two share a love of food, travel, and, most importantly, each other. After their Summer 2018 wedding, their next adventure will be adding more stamps to the passport as they continue their travels as Mr. & Mrs. We asked Lauren to share their story.

How did you meet?

We met in at the bar in the basement of The Brewer’s Art in Mt. Vernon.

Describe the proposal.
We went to visit Garret’s parents in Connecticut for the Easter weekend. Garret planned a walk with myself and our dog, Cam, along the Long Island Sound. He came across a secluded inlet as we were walking down the beach. We walked out to a bench on the water, and Garret got on one knee and popped the question!

What was the first thing you did after you got engaged?

After we got engaged we relaxed and took in the moment together. After that, we went out to lunch in downtown Westport, Connecticut and celebrated with champagne and lobster rolls.

Have you picked a date? Venue? Theme?

We are getting married on August 18th, 2018 at Woodlawn in Alexandria, Virginia. It is a historic property that has a very southern feel.

What is something you and your fiancé like to do together?

One thing my fiancé and I like to do is travel and explore new places! We just recently traveled to Napa and Sonoma, wining and dining our way through California wine country.

Will you be taking a honeymoon? If so, where and why did you pick that destination?

We will be traveling to the Amalfi coast in Italy. We both appreciate the Italian culture, history, and cuisine along with the Amalfi coast’s proximity to the beach and water.

What is a fun fact about you as a couple?
We have traveled to a combined six continents, 27 countries, and 41 states. We’re eager to add many more locations as a married couple.
